Carl is a natural competitor who strives to achieve the best outcome for clients of all sizes, no matter the issues involved. Having an M.B.A. and an engineering degree, Carl applies his zeal for problem solving to give clients unique insights into their legal disputes. And his time as a federal law clerk affords him important perspective from the other side of the bench.


Carl has experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in complex litigation across a broad array of practice areas, including administrative law, employment law, and commercial disputes.


A native of Boone County, West Virginia, Carl graduated from West Virginia University College of Law, where he served on the editorial board of the West Virginia Law Review. Carl also earned both his M.B.A. and his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from West Virginia University. Before joining the firm, Carl served two terms as a law clerk for the Hon. John T. Copenhaver, Jr., of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. He also worked as an associate for Shaffer & Shaffer, PLLC, in Charleston and as an Assistant Attorney General for the West Virginia Attorney General's Office.
